Powerplay roadmap 2-3Q 2023

Powerplay Managers,

As a part of our product development journey, we want to give you an insight into what we plan to bring to the product in the near future and hear your feedback on it. We’d like to start off with a huge ‘thank you’ from our team before we dive in. While we’re very grateful to see the excitement around recent tournaments, we understand that you are still experiencing problems while progressing and learning the platform.

In response to that, we now plan to tackle the following areas that are going to increase quality of player experience the most:

  • New player experience

  • Card collection growth

  • Duplicates and exchange

Beside that, there will be plenty of other quality of life updates, balance tuning, scoring changes that are supposed to improve your gameplay experience, make it more transparent and engaging. Stay tuned to our website and social channels for future release notes including the full list of new changes, balance updates, bug fixes, and more. With that, let’s dive in.

New player experience

We understand that fantasy sport may seem pretty easy on the surface but requires a lot of analysis and experimenting to grow a solid understanding of how things work. The fact that each fantasy game has different scoring rules that change with time doesn't help either. Of course, you can learn while playing, which is how it's usually done, but we want to let our managers test different strategies and experiment with gameplay. That's why we are adding the Demo tournament.

Demo tournament is a simulation of a tournament that has already taken place on the Powerplay platform. You can join it and test out infinite numbers of roster changes to see how your experiments reflect on final scoring. For the purpose of this tournament, you have access to all cards.

After you are done with experimenting, you can submit your best roster to the final leaderboard of the demo tournament to compare your result and roster with others managers. But be careful, you can only do it once! You can continue experimenting with your roster after you submit the final result.

Not satisfied with the results? Don’t worry, we will reset the Demo tournament every time new balance updates are coming so you can always test a new scoring model.

Card collection growth

It's very hard to compete with others having limited card choices and no reliable way to grow your card collection. And having a prize pool reward as the only way to grow your collection can be very discouraging for new players, especially when you take your first steps in the game and don't succeed too often.

To increase the influx of new cards to the system, we want to introduce an achievements system connected to the in-game activities. Complete achievements and grow your collection! But not only that: new titles, rewards, visual badges will be awarded to those who are actively progressing through the achievements list. We also plan to add a personal page where you can flex both your results and achievements with some extra customization. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.

Duplicates and exchange

Drawing duplicate cards never feels good, especially when you already have plenty in your collection. We know that a major part of every card game (sometimes even more exciting than actual gameplay) is the ability to trade your cards and make your collection stronger. Making a good deal sometimes is better than winning a tournament.

In response to that, we plan to introduce a marketplace where you can easily trade the cards you don't need for the cards you actually want.

The first version of the marketplace will be substantially limited in functionality so we can ship it faster. As of now, we are still deciding what essential features we want to add. We appreciate your feedback here! Also, we will gradually add new sophisticated functionality to make trading even more fun and exciting over time.

These are the challenges we plan to resolve in next quarter. After that we plan to closely work on the reward system (including new types of rewards) to make the competition even more interesting and challenging for our managers, as well as adding in-game currency as a core resource in the game. We will share more info about these updates in the upcoming news highlights as soon as everything is settled. Feel free to share your ideas too!

See you in the ranked tournament!

Best regards,

Powerplay Development Team.
