Powerplay Managers,
The second half of 2023 was quite a ride, especially with the unexpected release of CS2 and the data problems we experienced along the way.
Despite some ups and downs during that time period, we were still able to complete 90% of our pre-planned tasks. Although we will need some time to resolve the remaining technical issues, you will have plenty of exciting things to look forward to in the near future.
Let’s take a look at what we have in mind:
1. Daily reward track
We have added some new ways to increase the card influx for new managers, but we understand that it is not enough to achieve a good collection, and it still requires a significant amount of time. That’s why we plan to introduce a daily reward track as a practical way to steadily increase the size of your collection without any RNG involved. All you need to do is complete an in-game task as usual, and the reward is yours.
For now, we are going to add bundle packs as a reward, though the variety of rewards will also increase with the new systems that we plan to add.
2. Card recycling
Recently, we received a lot of feedback about card duplicates and their inability to be utilized in regular gameplay, making them a deadweight for managers. To make duplicates actually useful, we plan to add card recycling and a skill bonus system.
The recycling system will allow managers to get rid of cards they don't want to use and get more chances to receive the cards they actually want for their collection. The flow is pretty standard — you receive currency from destroying your own cards so that you can spend it on new cards in some type of ratio.
3. Card skill bonus (SB)
As another way of making duplicates actually valuable, we plan to roll out a unique trait — a skill bonus — for every existing and future card. Skill bonus is a small innate role score increase for each of the 5 existing roles. This bonus will be applicable to every card and will vary depending on the role. For example, a single card could have the following bonuses: +3% for the IGL role, +5% for Sniper, +9% for Entry Fragger, and so on. This system will make duplicates differ from each other in terms of value, enhancing the collection and card exchange systems as well.
We are still in the early stages of development, so this is not the final version of the system or how it will be implemented. Later on, we will provide more information about the system and its implementation.
4. Update on the previous roadmap
We decided to postpone adding more disciplines since our main goal is to create a polished experience for the CS2 discipline and make player progression enjoyable and exciting with enough systems in place to actually develop your power in a number of different ways.
As always, we value and look forward to your feedback! Your input is invaluable in shaping the future of Powerplay. If you have any suggestions, please let us know through social media and Discord. We're always looking for ways to improve the game.
See you at the next tournament!
Best regards,
Powerplay Development Team
