The anatomy of a card

Once you've created your Powerplay account, you will receive your first card bundles. Cards are essential for building your teams. Both the unopened card bundles and the opened cards are stored in the Inventory section.

A playing card is the main element of the game that represents the esports player on the platform.

At Powerplay, all esports teams correspond to the real esports teams. Discover players from different teams available on Powerplay, along with their game stats, in the Powerstats section.

There are several ways to get card bundles:

- as a reward from a tournament activity;
- from in-game achievements and events;
- marketplace.

Currently, only common cards are available in the game. As the game grows, cards of different types will be introduced.

Common cards can help managers master the game mechanics and improve their skills. Building a strong common card collection will give you a competitive advantage in the future. You can boost your lineup’s versatility and increase your chances of future victories with more cards in your collection.

Card Properties:

  1. Rarity — Attribute determining the availability and potential collectible value of the card. This attribute will be introduced in the game at a later stage.

  2. Card Type — Classification based on core characteristics, abilities, and gameplay functions. Currently, only Common cards are available. New card types will be introduced as the game evolves.

  3. Perks — attributes of a card, represented by random integer values ranging from 0 to 100 inclusive for each of the five possible lineup roles. Each value indicates the percentage of additional Role Score points (Team Score for the IGL role) earned by the card during a round when played in the respective role.

  4. Nickname — The esports player’s known nickname.

  5. Country — Country of origin of the esports player.

  6. Real Name — Actual name of the esports player.

  7. Experience Level — Indicates the progression or experience status of the card. Currently, all Powerplay cards have Experience Level 1. An advanced card leveling system is planned for future implementation.

  8. Series — Indicates the series or collection the card belongs to. This characteristic contributes significantly to its collectible value.

  9. Card Power — Numerical value determined by the total of card perks, reflecting its strength and attractiveness, particularly valuable during trades.

Role perks – a new card attribute

Each card now has a role perk, a percentage-based bonus that enhances the points the card earns in a specific role.

  • Role perks activate every round and apply only to the role the card is assigned to.

  • Each card has a randomly assigned perk, meaning identical cards can have different scoring potential.

  • For most roles, the role perk increases role points by a set percentage.

  • For IGLs, the role perk applies to team role score, giving a boost based on team performance.

This new feature adds a strategic and collectables layer to Powerplay cards, requiring managers to carefully consider not just player stats but also role perks when building lineups.

Examples of role perks:

  • +3% points for IGLs

  • +5% points for snipers

  • +9% points for entry fraggers

Even small percentage boosts can significantly impact the final score across a full tournament.

More details on how role perks affect scoring can be found in the scoring and roles section.

Why role perks matter

With role perks, even duplicate cards now offer different value in a lineup.

This adds a new level of depth to team building and scoring strategy. The right combination of base stats, role perks, and star multipliers can maximize your scoring potential and give you an edge in tournaments.

Future updates

The introduction of role perks is just the beginning. Future updates will include:

  • a system for leveling up cards based on in-game activity

  • a way to remove or exchange unused cards

  • more methods to acquire new cards

Stay tuned for additional enhancements to make Powerplay even more competitive and engaging.
